Latest update: Sept. 18, 2010

This is the Get Your Tournament statistical player database. After watching more than 30 tournaments, here are the statistics of the players involved in those tournaments, put together into a database, which will be constantly updated.

This is something I envisioned since I started seriously tracking statistics months ago. The idea, at least for me, is to see how a player statistically performs in Super Street Fighter IV. After months of working on this, I believe a player, like in any major sport, has tendencies that can be tracked and noted. If someone always gets the first hit or always use EX meter the moment he or she gets it, it will be revealed here. I've also wanted to see how two player stack up as they meet in a big match. If I knew someone had a .750 win percentage and her opponent had a .751 first-hit win percentage, I know that on paper, getting the first hit is crucial in this matchup.

Also this is, as a lot of things, a major work in progress. If you've wanted to see how certain players, or yourself, stack up statistically to other players, you'll get to see it here.

This is baby steps to what will be a very in-depth database. I'll be adding a lot of features to this in the future, and feel free to suggest something (we're probably thinking the same thing, but I want to see what is suggested. A list of tournaments charted, plus defense statistics are two of my priorities.).

As I chart tournaments, I'll be updating this. Unlike the statistical tournament tier list which is updated every 1,000 rounds, you'll always see the latest statistics (and if you're keeping track, you'll know when the next 1,000 mark is broken).

Some notes on this following the jump ...

I'll break down the different tabs here. If you want a guide on the terms used, head to the statistical guide.

First, all players that don't have at least 20 rounds played in my complete database are not here. As I chart more tournaments, more players will obviously be added. For now, this is the benchmark to get on this page.

Second, the statistics are separated alphabetically and by best percentages. Click on the specific tab to see the different categories in their own orders.

  • Victory averages: This is broken down by round, not game. I'll be going back eventually to have a game-win and game-loss column, as well as a Round 3 column, but not right now.
  • First-hit averages: This is based on getting the first hit and winning a round.
  • First-combo averages: This is based on getting the first combo and winning a round.
  • EX averages: This is based on players' EX meter usage during a round
  • Health averages: This is based on how much health meter a player has remaining in a round in which he or she wins.

When I first announced this was coming out, a few questions popped up, so let me create a quick FAQ:

  • So who's the best player? This is not meant to be a rankings. All it is, is to see what players have done in tournament play. Debate for days on who the best player is.
  • Is this just tournaments? Almost all of it is tournaments. The few exceptions have been some exhibition matches such as Level|Up's 19-game series. Eventually, the qualification will be tournaments only.
  • I don't have much stats compared to Daigo! Like I said, I'm charting as many tournaments as I can. I am a 1-person operation, and there's tons of tournaments every week. I'm also trying to go to past tournaments and chart those. Whatever's on video sites and broadcast sites, I'm trying to get them all (I choose you, Pik... ahh nevermind).
  • How come I'm on the other pages but not in the EX meter page? I did not start tracking EX meter until after Super NorCal Regionals, so there are some players that never had EX meter tracked. But almost everyone on this list had EX meter tracked from when I first found them, or I went back and charted their match again.
  • What about player vs player matchups? That's coming soon.
  • How do you pick which tournament to do stats? If I see it, I sit down and chart as many matches from that tournament as possible. If it's not archived, then I can't track it (a note for stream teams to archive your broadcasts or get them on YouTube, hehe). I do not specifically chart players. I don't say, "It's Tuesday so I'm going to chart only Daigo today." No, I chart tournaments, and if a player is there a lot more often than others, that's just what happens. Therefore, Please alert me to any and all tournament videos, not just Top 8, that way I don't miss anything.
  • Are you going to do this for other games? Yes, once I have the capabilities to do so.
  • Can I help? Yeah, talk to me on Twitter or e-mail me.
