Michael Vick or Peyton Hillis will be the Madden 12 cover athlete. The fan vote has come down to those two players after nearly a month of bracketed voting.
Hillis rolled over Aaron Rodgers in the semifinals, getting 61 percent of the vote. Vick had a little closer win, outlasting Adrian Peterson with 59 percent.
Vick, who has been a cover athlete before, has seen a drop in vote from the beginning. The 59 percent has been his lowest. Hillis had to edge Atlanta's Matt Ryan in the second round but has coasted since.
You can vote on ESPN.
Voting will take place all this week, and the winner will be announced on ESPN's SportsNation at 1 p.m. PT April 27. no comments

Doctor Chaos was released by Dominion Method Gaming, it was announced earlier today. The only word given by DMG was that the two sides came to an agreement.
Doctor Chaos finished in the top 15 at Evolution 2010 and was the winner of the Ken challenge, being the last Ken player in the tournament of more than 1,000 participants.
The move leaves DMG with 10 players under its Super Street Fighter IV division. no comments

Just wanted to take a second to let you know that there are stats of three recent championships now available on the fightinggamestats.com database. What makes these stats different from the others is that I have added win probability as well as a play-by-play log of the matches.
So, not only will you find out what players did during a match, you'll get to see how it broke down by round. The win probability is shown in a chart where, after each round, you get a look at who was favored to win the match.
One of the three tournament finals was Guard Crush 15, won by Sanford Kelly on Wednesday. Chris won Game 5 and was one round away from winning the match. At that point, he had a .730 win probability. That means he nearly was a 3-to-1 favorite to win the match. However, Sanford won the next two rounds to take the title. Based on thousands of rounds and games collected, it's been shown that people down 1-0 in Game 5 of a finals barely do what Sanford did.

There may not be an NFL season, but there will be a Madden 12 game, and now we know the date it's going to be released. It'll be Aug. 30, according to spokesman Rob Semsey.
Aug. 30 is a Tuesday, which means the game will be released on a day typical games and movies are released. Last year, the game was released on a Friday to create extra hype. no comments

No surprise here, the tournament organizers for Evolution 2011 have announced they will switch to Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition. Other tournaments are following suit.
AE’s June 7th release date will give players nearly two months of training to prepare for EVO on July 29th. We look forward to seeing the best fighters in the world come together to battle it out on another great Street Fighter title. There are only two tournaments in the Evolution 2011 season that will take place after the AE release, and both have also switched: CEO 2011 and NorCal Regionals 9. no comments
Earlier this week, Pasta Padre reported that several key members of EA Tiburon were leaving for a new company. Minutes ago, he posted on Twitter that creative director Ian Cummings will be one of the people leaving.
I'm shocked to say the very least. When the series was churning along with year-after-year versions that seemed nothing more like a roster update, Cummings really changed the game for the better, despite what the vocal minority of haters said.
No word has come from Cummings about the news, and reaction on Twitter has been mixed.

Capcom announced during its Captivate event earlier today that Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition will be coming June 7. It will be available via download for $14.99. If you don't have the current version (huh?) a full-version disc will be available later this year.
Not only that, there will be a PC version. There had been concerns from Capcom putting any future game on the PC because of piracy issues, but according to Destructoid, the game is already in works.
If you didn't see the trailer for the update, hit the jump ...

There has to be a point made repeatedly that the Madden 12 cover vote really hurts the one guy that deserves it, and that's Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Despite that, he's made the final four in voting. The scary thing is, he had the worst win margin of the four guys that advanced, and now he'll face against Cleveland's Peyton Hillis.
Former cover athlete Michael Vick also remains but he has a formidable opponent, Minnesota's Adrian Peterson. I predicted a couple weeks ago that this would be the end of the line for Vick, but he's had one of the strongest runs of this event. It's almost as if it will be Vick vs. Rodgers for the cover, but I'm sure Peterson fans will have to say something about it.
You can vote here. Voting ends next Monday morning.

Seems like you can bet on anything these days. From CNBC reporter Darren Rovell via twitter, here are Bodog's odds on the final eight competitors in the Madden 12 cover vote:
No word on Drew Brees or Patrick Willis. UPDATE: According to MaddenBible via Twitter, Drew Brees and Patrick Willis are the longshots, which is somewhat weird considering that Brees is the previous cover athlete and Willis has a major following in The South and California. Brees is 25/1 and Willis is 30/1.

- Aaron Rodgers: 2/3
- Michael Vick: 3/2
- Adrian Peterson: 12/1
- Jamaal Charles: 12/1
- Peyton Hillis: 12/1
- Danny Woodhead: 14/1
Super Bowl XLV champion quarterback Aaron Rodgers had the biggest win margin in advancing to the final eight of the Madden 12 cover vote. Rodgers won 76 percent of the vote against St. Louis' Sam Bradford.
Rodgers -- and I've been saying for weeks he is the most deserving player for this year's cover -- will now face Danny Woodhead in the third round.
The two previous cover athletes, Michael Vick and Drew Brees, are also still in it. Both of them had closer outcomes in advancing, and if they win their next round, they'll meet up in the semifinals.
Perhaps the most surprising final eight matchup is Kansas City's Jamaal Charles vs. Cleveland's Peyton Hillis. If we were to go by favorties, then Rodgers has the easiest route to the finals.
You can vote on ESPN.
Here's a list of the next round matchup:
Aaron Rodgers vs Danny Woodhead
Jamaal Charles vs Peyton Hillis
Drew Brees vs Adrian Peterson
