Get Your Tournament - News And Info
Last week, Peyton Manning had his 99 rating taken away, as he threw a load of interceptions in a couple games. Now, with Brady and Peterson having monster weeks recently, they get the bump up.
Here's more from EA Sports:
It's been another busy week of transactions and rating adjustments in the NFL. Here are a few of the highlights for this week:
- Welcome back to 99 Overall-ville Tom Brady and Adrian Peterson! This week, both Brady and Peterson get the highly coveted 99 Overall rating back after outstanding performances.
- Approximately 125+ transactions, rating adjustments and depth chart moves are updated in this Week 14 update.
- Four Team Overall ratings updated this week. The Patriots are the biggest winners with a 2 point boost to 92 Overall (the best in Madden NFL 11 currently) while the Jets suffer the biggest drop to 89 Overall.
Yes, I get mentioned on the interview (much love to Cole for that). I am going to get involved by doing a lot of the stats and recaps of what happens in league play. Get ready to see a lot of new stats and info on my end when this league begins. This is going to be really fun.

Finally, some of the best Brawl tournament organizers in the nation have come together to create a universal ruleset that they hope will be used by the rest of the nation. To be considered a national event by Smashboards, this ruleset has to be put in place. This is great because there isn't that feeling of separation, where West Coast tournaments allowed a certain stage or slob picks that the East Coast did not.
Four major championship tournaments to take place in 2011 will use this ruleset: Apex 2011, Genesis 2, Pound 5 and Whobo 3.
The tournament organizers include Alex Strife, Chris "AlphaZealot" Brown, Carlos "Havok" Zambrano, Tantulas and Xyro.
Go here to see the announcement.
Here's more from the tournament organizers:
These Tournament Directors alone will host roughly 40 tournaments in 2011 under the same ruleset, including every national tournament for the year. With these tournaments as a base, in addition to the sticky incentives from Smashboards GM JV, and the coverage incentive from AllisBrawl Co-Founder Neal, this will be the best shot at getting every tournament to run using the same rules. Never before have so many successful and established members of the community come to work together to see a dream realized. Brawl will soon reach its 3 year anniversary, and when that time comes hopefully most tournament will be using the same rules.no comments
*Notes*: As for MLG, we don't know what will be happening next season at all, so nothing can be said for the rules for those tournaments but as of this writing if there is a season both AlphaZealot and JV have pledged their support for the current version of the Ruleset Committee. Also, we did want to mention this will initially be a US effort and as such sticky and coverage policies will only apply to US tournaments. However, this does not mean we do not have our sights set on a more global scale. We felt the differences in various international communities, along with the challenge of getting representation into the BBRC from those areas, was too much for this first push. We do want to be able to add international support into the fold in the future, uniting globally across the entire Smash Smash Bros. Brawl community. To this end, having the support of tournament directors and players everywhere is going to help turn this dream into a reality.
The great thing about the list is that this is not just Super Street Fighter IV. There's even some listings for Samurai Showdown.

Versus City has an extended outlook on Yun and Yang, which will be coming to Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition. Tokido and Mago each broke down a character and talked about the good and the bad. It's a really great read, and I suggest checking it out if you're going to switch to either character.Tokido on Yun:
Tokido says that players who used Yun in 3rd Strike will be able to adapt quickly to the SF4 iteration. However, he believes that the character will be around the upper-mid ranks of the roster once everything is said and done. His main weak point seems to be his ground game, and he has to take to the air a lot as his main course of attack.Mago on Yang:
Mago makes a note that Yang’s Standing LP is incredibly good in this game. Whether it’s the standing close version or far standing version, on guard or on hit you have the advantage. On hit you can link it to crouching MK, and then into your combo of choice. Yang’s Crouching LK, together with his Standing LK make up a fantastic ground game that’s incredibly fast. Crouching MP is a good move with a “strong” hitbox, making it a very good move to use against people who like their footsies.no comments
It's a double elimination tournament. Each team will have four players each, with three players taking part per matchup. The fourth player won't play until the second round, whether it's the losers bracket or still in the winners bracket.
You can get more info by getting on the Ask Madden forums. At the moment, four teams are in talks of competing, and the tournament organizers are hoping for eight teams at least.
Here's more from Ask Madden:
The difference between this and other crew versus crew competitions is that this will be DOUBLE ELIMINATION. So you have to lose twice! So one crew will win the "winners" bracket without losing, and a one loss crew will win the "losers" bracket. Those two crews will face off, and the one loss crew would need to win TWICE IN A ROW to win the championship.no comments
Entry fee will be $120, so 30 per player. I think that is a reasonable price and it will provide a large pay out, but still a small buy in. The entry can change if guys want to make it MORE HIGHSTAKES.
Payout will be 100% of the entry fees. The winning crew may also receive certain perks from ask madden such as colored names ;)

Newegg is once again conducting a Wanfest. This time, they're going to have Super Street Fighter IV as one of their online tournaments.
The tournament starts Monday; registration ends Sunday at 6 p.m. PT. It will be played on the Xbox 360.
A couple of rules to note that might be different from your normal tournament: character or ultra changes are disallowed once a match starts, and each game is five rounds maximum.
The winner receives $700 in prizes, second takes $500 in prizes and third gets $200 in prizes. All of the info can be found on the tournament page.
In addition, you can purchase the game for $19.99, and Newegg has said the game will be shipped in time for the start of the tournament. no comments
The game will be sold for 400 Xbox Live points, which is half of what it normally goes for. The sale lasts until Nov. 29.
Most games are going for half off, some more. Here's more info from Major Nelson:
