The latest Rise of the Web Warrior final is scheduled to take place tonight, and it features a person who has been here before. I talk about it on today's podcast.

If you want to see results of the previous matches, they're available on the Fighting Game Stats database.

newstatsseriesAs mentioned before, the Starbase tournament series is the one in which I have the most stats of. I've charted the last 10 tournament finals, and the results have been unique. The one stat that has stood out has been the combo rate. I talk about that on today's Stats Series podcast.

If you want to see stats from the Starbase tournament series, it's available on the Fighting Game Stats database. You can also check out past Starbase tournaments on iPLAYWINNER's video portal.

newstatsseriesToday's Stats Series podcast looks at last night's Rise of the Web Warrior tournament final, featuring Steinmania. He won the match while not allowing a first-hit or first-combo. Surprisingly, that's not the first time that's happened in this tournament series.

Stats of the match can be found on the Fighting Game Stats database.

newstatsseriesIn today's Stats Series podcast, I make a couple comparisons to the past two Seasons Beatings finals. Yusuke Momochi was in both; he lost last year's title match but won this year's. A couple stats really stood out.

I've posted the stats of the final from last year, and it's available on the Fighting Game Stats database

newstatsseriesIf OnlineTony reaches the finals of Wednesday Night Fights tonight, it will be his sixth consecutive appearance. I try my best on today's podcast not to compare his run to what DieSuperFly did in the Melee scene nearly 4 years ago.

I also mention a couple stats during OnlineTony's five-tourney run so far.

newstatsseriesOn today's podcast, I talk about Latif's amazing ability to stay alive in the finals against Justin Wong at Devastation 2011. But the numbers might surprise you if you were expecting Latif to be a different beast as compared to all of the other rounds.

Stats of both matches are available on the Fighting Game Stats database.

Tony "Gimpyfish" Dennis, one of the well-known players in the Smash community, basically calls out tournament organizers and tells them to not be sheep. That's what I got out of listening to his audio. This is in light of the Smashboards' community banning Meta Knight in its Unity Ruleset beginning next year.

newstatsseriesOnlineTony won again at Wednesday Night Fights. In this podcast, I talk about his big stat and how it compared to last season.

Also, what does his five-tourney win streak compare to? I bring up a now-retired player who also had a lengthy streak several years ago.

Podcast follows the jump.

arcades_arent_dead
Aris at Avoiding the Puddle posted one of the best hourlong podcasts I've heard in a long while. Here, he talks with MYK and Rip about the arcade scene and why Namco Bandai should allow the United States to have Tekken Tag Tournament 2 in the arcades.

They talk a lot about how the arcade scene can fuel local communities. Sure, arcades are dying, but they're very important. To just dismiss them -- Aris said a few people told him to stop defending arcades -- is doing a disservice.

You can listen to their thoughts on their site.
