Your eyes and my eyes might bleed at what seems to be an overusage of Meta Knight at national events, especially when it gets to the final eight. At MLG Raleigh this past weekend, five of the top eight players used Meta Knight.
Add in a few more tournaments, and Meta Knight usage isn't that overwhelming.
Foxy, a member of Smashboards, has put together a fairly comprehensive spreadsheet showing character usage at the four biggest national tournaments this year; the three MLG events and Apex 2010.
Go here to see it. There's plenty to click through, but two things caught my eye:- At the three MLG events and Apex 2010, 15 of the 41 players in the final eight have used characters that resided in the S tier, that's barely a .365 average. Take out Raleigh, and Meta Knight usage was at .333.
- However, in the four major events, 30 of the 41 characters used by players in the final eight have all come from the S or A tiers.
