Here are your finalists for the second series in the Rise of the Web Warrior tournament series:
- Beat Ya Kold
- Steinmania
- Christian Jordan
- Demarcus
These four players will compete in a round robin in the next few days to determine which player will earn a free trip to compete in LA Riots on Dec. 11.
Also of note, in the eight finals matches, there were only five comebacks in 47 rounds played. That's a comeback rate of .106, nearly 70 points below the tournament average. There were streaks of 18 and 14 rounds without a comeback in a finals match. no comments
Tonight during the latest Rise of the Web Warrior finals, Christian Jordan pulled off something that had not been done in the tournament series, and it wasn't even close. Christian used 7 EX meters and connected on all of them.Stats of the match are available on the Fighting Game Stats database.
Here's a few notes about that feat:
- It's the least amount of EX meter used by a winner, tying what Beat Ya Kold did in the Round 5 finals two weeks ago.
- It's the third time that a winner used less than 10 EX meter. Beat Ya Kold, in his two finals appearances, used 9 and 7 EX meters, respectively.
- As far as EX connection percentage, Christian's 1.000 mark is the best. Here's how it ranks:
| Player | Round | EXC | EXC % |
| Christian Jordan | 7 | 7/7 | 1.000 |
| SHGLBMX | 2 | 14/20 | .700 |
| Beat Ya Kold | 5 | 4/7 | .571 |
| Perfect Legend | 1 | 8/16 | .500 |
| Far Beyond Death | 3 | 7/14 | .500 |
| Beat Ya Kold | 4 | 4/9 | .444 |
| Steinmania | 6 | 5/19 | .263 |
Admit it. You liked the all-Phoenix "Marvel vs. Capcom 3" championship at Seasons Beatings Velocity. Some of you probably shed a tear in happiness. I'm kidding.
I asked people on Twitter to provide headlines for the matchup between Flocker and Viscant. Flocker ended up winning the tournament in the second finals.
Here's the headlines from Twitter:
"Mashing Finally Worked!" - @ipwdeuce
"Meet the Flocker" - @zonkknuckle
"The True Fate of Two Phoenixes" - @ipwdeuce
"JEEEEEEEEEEEAN!" - @min7yfr3sh
"The Reign of Dark Phoenix" - @grecco
Hirisk808 added this picture. Instead of saying "Best Game Ever," it would be replaced with "RUN RUN RUN!"
Have a headline? Add it in the comments. You can also follow me on Twitter.
By the way, here's a clip of the winners finals between the two guys where they both went Dark Phoenix. Let the laughs begin!

I'm going to try once again to give away this damn $20 gift card to Chipotle, and I'm going to do it by adding another $20 gift card to it. After two failed attempts to run a contest and get a winner, hopefully the third time proves to be the charm.
This weekend is Seasons Beatings: Velocity, and there are some heavy hitters set to do battle in the tournament.
As was the case last year, the United States will take on an international team in a 5-on-5 contest. Last year's contest was a close battle, as the United States narrowly won 13-12.
So here's the challenge:
Predict the winner of the USA vs. International 5-on-5 Super Street Fighter IV match and how many points the winning team will have.
The person that correctly guesses the team AND who comes closest to the final total without going over will win. In the event of a tie, a drawing will take place Monday morning to determine the winner.
The winner will receive a $40 gift card to Chipotle.
Here's a hint, the winning team will have at least 13 points.
The International lineup: Uryo, Mago, Tokido, Momochi, Poongko
The USA lineup: Justin Wong, Dieminion, Ricky Ortiz, PR Balrog, Wolfkrone
Examples:
- USA wins 13-12
- International team wins 25-0
- Your guess must be between 13 and 25 points.
- One guess per person, and your first guess is your one guess.
- Only guesses posted here count (not on Twitter, Facebook, etc.)
- If you're in the 5-on-5, you can't enter.
- Only U.S. people (Sorry again, international people)
- The deadline is 10 a.m. PT Saturday!
I've posted stats from the final three matches of the Tekken 6 tournament at Devastation 2011. It's available on the Fighting Game Stats database. It was an exciting final three, as all were experienced veterans from Southern California.
I'll be talking a little bit about this match later in the week on the podcast, but here's something to note regarding Rip's performance:

I'll be talking a little bit about this match later in the week on the podcast, but here's something to note regarding Rip's performance:
- His juggle combo rate against Aris in the winners finals was 0.40 per round. For the remainder of the tournament, it shot all the way up to an amazing 1.29 per round.
- In both finals matches against Aris, he had a late lead 16 times and won all 16.

I've posted the stats of the second finals of Guard Crush 25, and they're now available on the Fighting Game Stats database. I'm still trying to configure the first finals considering that Dragongod and Dieminion played what seemed to be 500 consecutive rounds.Anyway, there's a couple of notes that I picked up from these finals.
- In the second finals, Dragongod had just two wins with more than 50 percent health. The last time a player had that few and won a Guard Crush was Wolfkrone, when he had just two at Guard Crush 18.
- Dieminion was out-comboed 35-12 in the second finals. In the first finals (with one round missing), he was out-comboed 28-13. In his last four finals matches, he's been out-comboed 131-54. The last time he out-comboed someone in a Guard Crush final was Guard Crush 19, when he led 13-10 over Sanford Kelly.

Congratulations to Ryan "Filipino Champ" Ramirez for winning the Ultimate NorCal vs. Capcom UMvC3 tournament earlier tonight. He defeated Honzo Gonzo 3-0 in the championship.I've posted stats of the tournament on the Fighting Game Stats database, but at the moment, they are approximate because I was watching it live. I am going to watch it again to double check some of the stats, but I'm fairly sure about most of the numbers posted.
If the stats do hold up, this means that Honzo Gonzo called an assist every 5.58 seconds. no comments
