It's too bad that KillaOne is somewhat known for being denied the NCAA Challenge championship after giving up a Hail Mary touchdown. However, KillaOne has had his share of other big-time moments that have gone his way.
Daniel aka KillaOne made his presence felt by getting to Survivor Sunday during the Anaheim Madden Challenge, pulling off a few big upsets along the way. He plans to do the same in Orlando this weekend.
I had a chance to interview him last week about the upcoming tournament. We talked about potential upsets, what he did well in Anaheim and who he thinks will stun the field in Orlando.
More after the jump ...
GLENN: How tough was Anaheim for you and do you expect Orlando to be as tough?
KILLAONE: From my experiences in both Dallas and Anaheim, I expect Orlando to be just as tough as the two. There's usually a "random" or two on top of the known killers that you face that really knows what they're doing and you have to always stay on your toes and not take anyone lightly.
GLENN: Have you worked on your game more, less or the same since Anaheim? If it's more, is it because of your performance?
KILLAONE: I've worked on my game a LOT more than previously. I try and keep my priorities in line when it comes to school and madden, and with Orlando just seven days away I'm spending the majority of my holiday break time in the lab. I go into every tournament expecting to win, so my performances didn't really effect how much time i put into the lab but rather what kind of labbing i should be doing.
GLENN: What did you think you did well in Anaheim? From the games I saw, I thought it was being able to match what your opponent did and then come up with a key play.
KILLAONE: What I did well in Anaheim I think was keeping my nerves in check. I've been in a couple of pressure games at players bowl, and my NCAA challenge finals appearance to finally be able to relax and just play my game as opposed to getting nervous about winning or losing.
GLENN: You'll have to win the tournament to get to Miami. What will it take for you to do it?
KILLAONE: It's going to take pretty much perfection to make it in the finals in a 256 man tourny, but I think I can manage.
GLENN: Do you think we're gonna see a lot of Miami users at this tournament? I thought that was a mistake by everyone except Dynasty to use them just because of the qb glitch.
KILLAONE: I really dont think you'll see many Miami users. with the latest patch, it's going to take some real creativity to avoid the auto drop back to run around with pat white and still have an effective scheme. Add the fact that QB draws might be completely banned (which is what I've heard) there are many reasons to not use that offense.
GLENN: There were a lot of upsets in Anaheim. Do you think that'll be the case in Orlando?
KILLAONE: In just about every good sized tournament I've seen or been to gaming and real world there are upsets, I don't expect this one to be any different.
GLENN: Not counting yourself, who is someone that everyone should look out for in Orlando?
KILLAONE: I would probably have to say Vince of EAFL or a guy named Manny (if he shows) to make some noise. Both are primed to pull off a few upsets.
GLENN: I thought that in Dallas, there was a lot of defense and in Anaheim there was a lot of offense. Do you think it'll be a lot of offense in Orlando? I'm predicting a lot of Chris Johnson or Dallas.
KILLAONE: This tournament I think you will see a good balance. After Dallas just about everybody was struggling to find a potent offense, so that's what the lab emphasis was going into Anaheim. The game has been out long enough for the good players to tune up both offense and defense and there should be some really good games. Personally I don't see many Titans users coming out. I expect Dallas and Philadelphia to be the two most used.
