Keno is scheduled to be one of the two gatekeepers during today's LA Riots III qualifying tournament. He was put in this situation before and nearly secured a spot in LA Riots III. However, he was bounced in the second semifinals.
For the whole tournament, he was 19-4, 2-2 in the bracket round.
I think it's going to be more of the same tonight, with a very likely chance he secures one of the final two berths into the LA Riots III competition.
If he gets rolling, it's going to be very tough to stop him.
I charted 18 of his 23 matches during the last qualifying tournament -- he was 14-4 in those 18 matches -- and he proved that getting off on a good foot is the way to go.
When he won the first round of a match at the qualifying tournament a couple weeks ago, he went 12-1 (.923 win percentage). And in that one loss, against Hugo101, he was taken to the final round in the final game. He was 2-3 when he didn't win the first round.
That opening salvo really seems to set the tone for how the rest of the contest is going to pan out.
Also, I mentioned this last week; he had a stretch of six matches where he went 6-0 and went 2-0 in every game. That's a plus-24. I haven't seen anyone steamroll opponents like that; other players have said they'll concede a round to regroup for the next one.
Here's something else to note: the competitiors today might be in for a grind. If we only count the bracket matches from the previous qualifying tournament, Keno was involved in the longest battles. His average round time was 56.45 seconds. The average round in bracket play was 47.01 seconds. A lot can happen in nine extra seconds.
Good luck to those competing tonight, be prepared for a long one. You can signup here. Only 24 players will be allowed to compete.
