After watching Guard Crush 19, I have posted seven of the last eight Guard Crush finals matches (17 is missing). You can check it out on the metatag on the Fighting Game Stats database.

Here's some interesting notes about the last five Guard Crush finals:

The basic match stats: a .567 first-hit win percentage, a .558 first-combo win percentage, a 1.636 combo rate, an .873 closeout rate and an average time of 50.58 per round.

Only one of the last five tournament went to a second finals: Chris Hu vs. Sanford Kelly (22, won by Sanford Kelly).

There have been 19 times where a player has gotten the first hit and first combo in a round. That player won every round. The top three: Chris Hu (7 times), Dieminion (6 times), Sanford Kelly (3 times)

Four of the six players to go up 1-0 won the match. The two that didnt: Chris Hu (22) and Rico Suave (20).

Four players have gone up 2-0, but only three have won. Chris Hu (22) is the only one that didn't.

No match has gone the ultimate distance. The closest was Guard Crush 21 when Sanford Kelly and Dieminion went to the fifth game in their championship, but Dieminion won both rounds in the fifth game to take the title.

There have been seven comebacks in 55 rounds played. By round: None in round one, 3 in round two, 4 in round 3. Of the seven comebacks, four eventually won the match. No player has trailed in a match, made a comeback in a round and gone on to win the match.

Only one round timed out. That's fairly amazing considering how many rounds Dieminion has played in the last five finals. By the way, he's the one that was involved in the time out (19, in a win against Sanford Kelly).

Those that out-combo their opponents have a .700 win percentage. However, the number might be a little bit misleading. Here's why:
  • 1 combo lead: 9 for 18 (.500)
  • 2 combo lead: 11 for 14 (.786)
  • 3 combo lead: 6 for 6 (1.000)
  • 4 combo lead: 2 for 2 (1.000)
Those that out-combo their opponents by more than 1 have an .863 win percentage.
