Orlando Madden Challenge

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - It seemed like the repeat of what happened during the Anaheim Madden Challenge, but it really wasn't. I still do not like the continuation rule that has been put in place for each Madden Challenge regional. However, if this is what the community has to deal with, it is manageable.

The final was exciting if you liked defense. After Evil Ken scored the touchdown to go ahead 7-3, he never trailed and then poured it on the second half. But it was led by defense.

Prodigy was 1-for-5 on third downs, and 0-4 after he kicked the field goal to go ahead 3-0. Most of the attempts were more than five yards, putting Prodigy in tough situations that Evil Ken took advantage of.

As for Evil Ken, he was 3-for-5 on third downs, but two of the conversions were for touchdowns, and they were big plays. He amassed 225 yards of offense after three quarters.

It seemed as though things stayed the same once the overtime round began; Evil Ken needed one play to go ahead 7-0 and then held Prodigy at midfield for a few moments.

Once Prodigy nailed a 47-yard pass to the 1-yard line, the tide turned his way. He scored to tie the game at 7-7, then two plays later he intercepted a pass to nearly seal the deal.

Prodigy was 2-for-2 on third down in the overtime session, a big change from earlier. When he needed the clutch plays, he came through. And when he needed to shut down the quick strikes by Evil Ken, he did that.

As for the rest of Sunday, it was a tough set of matches. Off-tackle did rule the day -- except in the SJR vs. Evil Ken match where they passed the ball almost every down -- because nobody could stop it at a good rate.

The four players that qualified for the Finals Tournament in a couple weeks will have a lot to work on. There are a few players that picked up some big momentum going into Miami.
