If OnlineTony reaches the finals of Wednesday Night Fights tonight, it will be his sixth consecutive appearance. I try my best on today's podcast not to compare his run to what DieSuperFly did in the Melee scene nearly 4 years ago. I also mention a couple stats during OnlineTony's five-tourney run so far.

On today's podcast, I talk about Latif's amazing ability to stay alive in the finals against Justin Wong at Devastation 2011. But the numbers might surprise you if you were expecting Latif to be a different beast as compared to all of the other rounds.Stats of both matches are available on the Fighting Game Stats database.

I'll be talking a little bit about this match later in the week on the podcast, but here's something to note regarding Rip's performance:
- His juggle combo rate against Aris in the winners finals was 0.40 per round. For the remainder of the tournament, it shot all the way up to an amazing 1.29 per round.
- In both finals matches against Aris, he had a late lead 16 times and won all 16.

I've posted the stats of the second finals of Guard Crush 25, and they're now available on the Fighting Game Stats database. I'm still trying to configure the first finals considering that Dragongod and Dieminion played what seemed to be 500 consecutive rounds.Anyway, there's a couple of notes that I picked up from these finals.
- In the second finals, Dragongod had just two wins with more than 50 percent health. The last time a player had that few and won a Guard Crush was Wolfkrone, when he had just two at Guard Crush 18.
- Dieminion was out-comboed 35-12 in the second finals. In the first finals (with one round missing), he was out-comboed 28-13. In his last four finals matches, he's been out-comboed 131-54. The last time he out-comboed someone in a Guard Crush final was Guard Crush 19, when he led 13-10 over Sanford Kelly.
OnlineTony won again at Wednesday Night Fights. In this podcast, I talk about his big stat and how it compared to last season. Also, what does his five-tourney win streak compare to? I bring up a now-retired player who also had a lengthy streak several years ago.
Podcast follows the jump.

Congratulations to Ryan "Filipino Champ" Ramirez for winning the Ultimate NorCal vs. Capcom UMvC3 tournament earlier tonight. He defeated Honzo Gonzo 3-0 in the championship.I've posted stats of the tournament on the Fighting Game Stats database, but at the moment, they are approximate because I was watching it live. I am going to watch it again to double check some of the stats, but I'm fairly sure about most of the numbers posted.
If the stats do hold up, this means that Honzo Gonzo called an assist every 5.58 seconds. no comments

Aris at Avoiding the Puddle posted one of the best hourlong podcasts I've heard in a long while. Here, he talks with MYK and Rip about the arcade scene and why Namco Bandai should allow the United States to have Tekken Tag Tournament 2 in the arcades.
They talk a lot about how the arcade scene can fuel local communities. Sure, arcades are dying, but they're very important. To just dismiss them -- Aris said a few people told him to stop defending arcades -- is doing a disservice.
You can listen to their thoughts on their site.
