Deciding to break into the fighting game scene, the Evil Geniuses announced the signing of Marn on Thursday night.
Marn's first tournament under the EG brand will be today at Devastation 2010 in Arizona. He's also scheduled to take part in the eSports World Championship in Paris later this year.
MaRN began gaming at the age of six and quickly became a console gaming phenomenon after winning his first tournament at 12 years of age. In addition to his achievements in Street Fighter 4, Martin regularly competes in both the Guilty Gear series and Tatsunoko vs. Capcom events.
"We could not be happier with our decision to jump into the console gaming scene," commented Alex Garfield, Executive Director of Evil Geniuses. "MaRN is the perfect fit for Evil Geniuses and we’re excited to support him in all his gaming endeavors."
HUNTINGTON BEACH - We're live from the Farewell FedEx Fight Nights event at the Hotel Huntington Beach. There's scheduled to be a 16-person tournament tonight.
Sweden will be center stage once again as Dreamhack Summer takes place this weekend.

This is awesome. The folks at Screw Attack have footage of Mortal Kombat 9, taken during the Electronic Entertainment Expo. Most of the video shows the fatalities in the game. Scorpion's is one of the best (I'm being a little bit biased, he's my favorite character from the series). I'm sure after people see the Milleena fatality, they'll pick her just to do it.
Shopmaster at MyMaddenPad has put together a list of player ratings for Madden 11, which have been discovered at the Electronic Entertainment Expo. At this point, only three players with 99 ratings have been uncovered: Jared Allen, Peyton Manning and Drew Brees.
If it holds up and those players have 99 ratings, then it's likely more 99s are coming, I'd say at least seven to 10. Having two quarterbacks with 99 ratings leaves the door open for perhaps two or three running backs to have the same rating. The same could be said for receivers and linebackers.
Nnamdi Asomugha has a 98 rating, which means the Raiders defense should make them tournament worthy once again. Based on Asomugha's rating, I'm guessing Darrell Revis will get a 99 rating.
Earlier today, Pasta Padre mentioned on Twitter the demo for Madden 11 will be 5-minute quarters. This is a major change from past years, where the demo for the year's game was a half, or a quarter. It really looks like EA Sports is trying to drive home its point of being "Simpler, quicker, deeper" by giving all of us a good amount of time to mess around with the demo.
The gameplay footage from the Electronic Entertainment Expo that's starting to surface shows that anything less than five-minute quarters would probably be a disappointment.
Here's some footage of Madden 11 by Pasta Padre. As expected, Gameflow is in full effect, with limited downtime between plays. John Carlson got wide open on that slant rout at 0:48 but I'm not sure if it's because it's against the Rams' secondary in a Cover-2 defense or the AI being so soft.
The same thing happened to Koachk in his video when he was using the Titans. The Lions were playing a very soft Cover-4, and the only misses on the video were really of his own doing.
It appears that Pasta was using the default set play, and he found a lot of success with it. Koachk was audiblizing and had a little bit tougher time, but still ended up on the positive side.
Hopefully the AI isn't this dumb when the final version is released.
The finals was once again the United States vs. Korea. This time Korea prevailed. More specifically, Holeman won the title. In case you missed the action during the live broadcast, MLG has you covered with videos from the title match, as well as plenty other preliminaries.
MLG also has action from the 3-on-3 tournament, so be sure to check it out on the site.
EA Sports President Peter Moore spoke to the masses earlier today about the changes coming to Madden 11. There really isn't anything groundbreaking in this video, other than to reiterate that novice players, through the Gameflow design, should find more success in playing the game.
Novice players won't be tournament ready instantly, but they should be able to make more of a dent against veteran competition.
Not only was there the announcement today about the Nintendo 3DS coming soon, but the Street Fighter IV series will be one of the games available for play.
The folks at Capcom and Nintendo confirmed that the game will be coming to the handheld console, although nothing about the actual name or controls were revealed. Screenshots showed three characters: Cammy, Guile and Ryu. Don't forget that Street Fighter IV is also available for the iPhone, with two new characters coming soon.
Enjoy Super Turbo Revival while you can, because there should be plenty of tournaments for the new Street Fighter IV for the 3DS.
Dead or Alive was also announced as a game that will be made for the Nintendo 3DS.
EL SEGUNDO - Takeru was the winner of the Primetime Gamers Los Angeles tournament on Saturday, using what seemed to be an overwhelming rushdown style to pin his opponents into the corner. He had plenty of EX meter to use and only used it, in most part, to get free and reset so he could attempt to get his opponent back in the corner.
After winning the tournament, Takeru talked about his playstyle, where he's from and why he didn't use his ultra in the final few matches.
